The company started on May 1st, 2003 in West Vancouver, as a partnership between two good friends, Trent Robillard and Fabio Scaldaferri. Trent and Fabio purchased a small used truck together for $900, borrowed their parent's tools, and printed some "Student Yard Works" flyers to get them started. The two of them had a very successful summer in business together. They managed to complete over 100 jobs, built some valuable relationships with local residents and pulled in some profit as well.

Fabio returned to Victoria the following September, to further his education in the business field at College. Trent continued to work and travel.

In May 2004 the phone was ringing off the hook from previous season's clients who where looking for them to get going in their yards! With a new accounting system, and management policy in place, the summer started with a flood of work. A crew of three where hired for a one month contract on a West Vancouver home. Fabio was also flown to the Yukon, for a very successful job on a newly built home. Back at home Trent took care of business.

Later in the summer Trent accepted a high-paying job working for his uncle and Fabio purchased Trent's half of Student Yard Works assets. Their partnership ended, but their friendship remains strong.

Today, Fabio has incorporated Student Yard Works and is undertaking the challenge of turning it into the first "World Class" Landscape Maintenance Company.
